Walthers was founded in Milwaukee in 1932. In 1937 the company began manufacturing HO scale models. The company's founder,Bill Walthers brought operating layouts to the 1939 World's Fair, where they were a big hit.
Like all manufacturing companies, Walthers was forced to cease production during World War II. The post-war boom in model trains and railroads brought the company much success.
Today Walthers continues to be a major supplier of model train accessories and offers procducts from over 300 other manufacturers.
