Branchline began producing HO scale model railroad products in 1991. In the beginning the company bought undecorated cars and had them printed by outside contractors to their own specifications. The company soon decided to set up their own printing facility in order to maintain better quality control over their products.
In 1997 development work began on Branchline's first line of freight cars. Marketed under the "Blueprint Series" banner, These cars were designed to set new standards for a freight car kit. The first series of cars, the 50' AAR postwar boxcars, offered a variety of combinations of optional parts that allow us to closely replicate nearly any of the prototype cars. This philosophy would continue into future Blueprint releases.
Since then the company has added the Yardmaster Series, which feature quick assembly. Also added was Laser-Art Structures, which features laser-cut wood structure kits in all major scales with excellent detail and ease of assembly.
Branchline HO trains is located in East Hartford, Ct., where all of Branchline's kits are manufactured. The complete manufacturing process from injection molding through artwork, decorating and packaging is done at the East Hartford facility.
